About Terry & Tub

Terry & Tub is a buying guide for bath linens -- towels, bath mats, robes, and the laundering that decides whether any of them last. It exists because the two things a buyer most wants to know are the two things the existing sources are worst at answering: which product will still be good in five years, and what to do with the ones you already own.

Every page on this site is written by Janet H., the hands-on owner behind Janet Media Group. There is no editorial board, no rotating staff, no "Terry & Tub Team" byline. One person, named, on every page.

That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. A single named author can be held to what she wrote, and a reader can judge the whole site by reading two pages of it.

Janet is not a textile scientist and this site does not claim she is. What she has is years of running a linen closet properly, a habit of reading manufacturers' actual specifications rather than their adjectives, and no towels of her own to sell.

Search almost any towel-care question -- why towels stop absorbing, how to get white towels white, why they smell -- and the results are dominated by laundry services, detergent brands and towel manufacturers. Every one of them has something to sell that is not the answer.

Terry & Tub sells no towels and no laundry service. When the honest answer to a question is "do not buy anything, strip the towels you have", we can write that, and we frequently do. How we choose sets out the method in full.

• We will not claim to have tested anything. There is no lab here. Reviews are built from published specifications and what those specifications predict about how a textile ages.
• We will not invent credentials. No certifications, no awards, no press mentions that did not happen.
• We will not publish scores or star ratings. A score implies a measurement we did not make.
• We will not publish testimonials. Terry & Tub is a new publisher with no review history, and inventing one would be the fastest way to deserve no trust at all.
• We will not quote a price. Prices change constantly; you see the retailer's own price, on their site, the moment you click.

Terry & Tub earns a commission on some links to Amazon, at no extra cost to you. Several brands covered on this site sell direct and have no affiliate program we are part of -- they are included anyway when they are the right answer, and every page says which links earn and which do not.
