Editorial Policy

This page sets out how Terry & Tub decides what to publish, how commercial relationships are handled, and what happens when we get something wrong. It is short on purpose -- a policy nobody reads protects nobody.

No brand pays for coverage, placement, a superlative slot, or a change to a verdict. No brand sees a review before it publishes. We accept no sponsored posts and no paid guest content.

We earn affiliate commission on some links, which is disclosed on every page carrying one and explained in full on the affiliate disclosure page. Commission does not determine what gets recommended: several products on this site are from brands we earn nothing from, and they are labeled as such on the page.

Where a cheaper product is the better answer, we say so, including when the more expensive one would earn more.

• Every product specification -- GSM, fiber, staple length, dimensions, certification -- comes from a manufacturer's published product page or a retailer's specification sheet, and the source is linked on the product.
• Where a brand does not publish a figure, the page says "not published". We never estimate a specification.
• Where an independent measurement contradicts a brand's published figure, we report both and name the source.
• Guides carry a sources section listing what was consulted.
• External sources are linked so a reader can check the claim themselves.

• Testing claims. Terry & Tub runs no lab and never says otherwise. How we choose.
• Invented specifications, prices, ratings or review counts. Under any circumstances.
• Testimonials or customer quotes. This is a new publisher with no review history; fabricating one is not an option.
• Scores, star ratings or aggregate ratings, on the page or in structured data.
• Credentials the author does not hold. No certifications, awards or qualifications that did not happen.
• AI-generated product photography. Product imagery is either the retailer's own or licensed stock, and stock is never presented as a photograph of a specific product being reviewed.

Every page on this site is written by Janet H.. There is no editorial board and no unattributed content. The byline on a page is the person who wrote it.

Each page carries a publication date and, where it differs, a last-updated date. The updated date changes only when the content actually changes -- we do not refresh dates to look current, and the sitemap reads the same real dates rather than the build time.

Roundups are revisited when a product is discontinued, a specification changes, or a better option appears. Guides are revisited when the underlying advice changes, which in laundry chemistry is not often.

If something here is wrong, we correct it and say so. Substantive corrections -- a wrong specification, a discontinued product presented as current, a factual error in a guide -- are fixed in the text and noted with the date of the change rather than altered silently.

Terry & Tub sells no bath linens and operates no laundry service. That absence is the point: most pages currently ranking for towel-care questions belong to companies with something to sell that is not the answer. If that ever changes, this page will say so before anything else does.

We do not run a comments section and we do not publish user reviews, because we have no way to verify them and an unverified review is worse than none. Reader corrections and product suggestions are welcome by email and are followed up individually.
