What Frontgate gets right
Fine-combed long-staple cotton. Combing mechanically removes the shortest fibers before spinning, which is why this reads as dense rather than fluffy and why it lints far less than an uncombed towel of the same weight. It is a real manufacturing step with a real cost.
Reinforced edges and double-stitched hems. The hem is what fails first on most towels, and these are specified for the handling a resort's linens get. If you are buying a towel to keep, this is the detail that decides it.
Genuinely oversized. The 35 x 68 in bath sheet is actually oversized rather than nominally so, which is unusual -- "oversized" is an unregulated word in this category. Size reference.
Honest positioning. Frontgate does not pretend this is an everyday value towel. It is a resort product priced as one, and the specification supports the price.
Where it falls short
Very heavy when wet. Several reviewers who liked the towel found this impractical for daily home use, and it is a legitimate objection. A 700 GSM bath sheet is a lot of wet cloth to handle and a lot of load in a domestic machine.
Dry time is the real constraint. At 700 GSM in a bath-sheet size, this towel needs a genuinely ventilated bathroom. The price is real. $50-80 per towel means a full bathroom is a serious purchase. Whether that is worth it depends entirely on whether your bathroom lets the towel perform.
How it holds up over time
On specification this is close to a buy-once towel: the fiber, the comb, the weave and the edge construction are all chosen for commercial laundering, which is far harsher than anything a domestic machine does.
The caveat is the one above, and it is not a small one. A towel engineered for a tunnel drier that is instead hung on a hook in a humid room does not get to use its engineering. In the right bathroom this will outlast almost anything; in the wrong one it will go musty while a cheaper towel beside it does not.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
Buy it if your bathroom has a window, an extractor that actually runs, or a heated rail -- and you want the resort towel rather than an approximation of it. It is also an excellent guest-bathroom purchase, where it is used occasionally and has days to dry.
Skip it if your bathroom is small and unventilated, if several people shower back to back, or if you are looking for the best towel per dollar. On the last point, it genuinely is not -- and Frontgate would probably not claim otherwise.
